Tarot Reading for Finding Romance

Welcome to Transmutology Tarot.

Transmutology is a new approach to the study of change. We wish to know about the art of transmutation and to practice it.

Can we find the precious gem of the true self? Can we turn obstacles into pathways? Can we become more aware of our true nature and the nature of reality?

Today’s reading is on the search for romance and a serious relationship. How can we make ourselves more open to the possibilities?

The Tarot is used to meditate on our way of thinking about ourselves and the challenges of life. There is nothing psychic involved. There is no fortune telling, no prediction. ‘Suggestion’ would be a better word.

There is a question. Then the cards are read and their story revealed. The story may open one’s mind just the way walking into a room full of artistic masterworks can change a life forever.

My readings do not speak of how you will soon meet the person of your dreams. My readings talk about you, the questioner. The readings are an inquiry into how you actually are within a situation – how you may try looking at things, both consciously and unconsciously.

The Tarot is a marvelous tool for meditation. It creates unique visual impressions and stories full to bursting with meaning. All the stories revealed by Tarot readings bring something to the reader and the questioner. All Tarot readings are valid. They must simply have their subtle messages decoded by the reader based on his or her connection in the present moment with the questioner.

A reading stumbled upon in a video may have much to offer you in a particular moment. Enjoy the moment. Sit back, clear your mind of distractions, and follow along with the story of the cards.

The deck I am using is the Tarot of Marseille which is the oldest deck currently still in use. The minor arcana cards (the number cards) are much more abstract than the commonly used Rider-Waite deck. This leads me toward a method of reading that incorporates numerology. In other words, each number has a character which when combined with a card’s suit gives a meaning.

I will conduct more readings and they will all find their way here. I hope my readings are of service to you and begin a journey of awareness and eventual transmutation.

Tarot: World Card From 1400s Italian Visconti Deck

The Italian Visconti-Sforza Tarot deck dates from around 1450. There are several incomplete decks scattered around the world in various museums and private collections. A few of the cards are permanently missing. Apparently, the Tower and Devil cards are among those that got modern replacements to complete printings of this beautiful deck.

Recently, there have been highly successful reconstructions of various Tarot decks. One of the most well-known is the result of several years of work by the filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky and Philippe Camoin who worked on their version of the famous Marseille Tarot deck in the 1990s. Jodorowsky's research and writing about the meanings contained in the that deck are fascinating essential reading for anyone interested in Tarot. He leans toward using the Tarot for self-knowledge and healing. His writing is inspiring. If you want to read what is probably the best book on Tarot, go get 'The Way of Tarot – The Spiritual Teacher in the Cards' by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marianne Costa.

However, the actual cards produced by Jodorowsky have a hard-edged, overly precise clarity to them. Everything is edged in black line. The colors are flat and super saturated. It's too clean and modern looking. It misses an essential ingredient in any great Tarot deck: imprecision. My mystical mind prefers some mess. A little blur always makes a symbol more powerful. Clarity brings Tarot too close to the realm of text. The images should be shrouded, revealing multiple meanings only to close and slightly irrational observation. There are other Marseille decks that avoid this fatal flaw. The Visconti deck appears to have the chaos that I require in spades!

Alejandro Jodorowsky Discusses Psychomagic But He Smiles Too Much

Alejandro Jodorowsky on the Spanish program ‘Negro Sobre Blanco’ discussing his ‘phsychomagic’ ideas about how people must understand the influence of the family tree and how breaking with habits or curses from the past is essential for health and happiness. Jodorowsky has long held to the idea that art must heal human beings and society. His use for systems of magic like the Tarot are never for divination but rather for understanding one’s self and one’s place in the world. He approaches his own thoughts and theories with humor and exuberance. I find him to be very magnetic as a speaker. I also find that his good nature seems to prevent people from aggressively arguing some of his general assertions. In other words, most people who interact with Jodorowsky do so with the attitude that they are dealing with a grand old man of wisdom. In many ways I think he is just that. However, one should not have that in mind when actually talking to him. I also think he’s a nice man who genuinely works to help people feel better.

Documentary On Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Unmade Dune Film

Twitch Film has posted a preview of a documentary that is currently in production on the unmade 1974 Alejandro Jodorowsky version of Dune. It is nice to see a man talk about making something the way Jodorowsky does in this short clip.  When I see that kind of open enthusiasm I want to be in the same room.  Quite frankly, I would much rather have the Jodorowsky film of Dune than the piece of vapid nonsense that was actually made by David Lynch.  The general rule is if you see a movie with Sting in it… run for the exits. Documentaries are wonderful, but Jodorowsky really should make his version of the book now.
