Nosferatu
Directed by F.W. Murnau
Germany
1922

About the Film:

Quite possibly the greatest vampire movie ever made, F.W. Murnau's masterpiece of horror tells a story that closely resembles Bram Stoker's Dracula novel. In fact, when the film was released, Stoker's widow sued the movie company for infringement and insisted that all copies of the film be destroyed. Fortunately, not all of them were. Murnau captures the hazy, nightmare quality of the vampire story perfectly. The character of Count Orlak, played by Max Schreck, is one of the most frightening of all horror performances. The movie is silent, but it is far more interesting than any of the vampire movies that followed it. For some reason, the Hollywood approach to horror turns frightening things into silly things... never a good thing for horror. There is no such thing as funny horror.

Submit a Film

The DramaCast film festival showcases films and animations that we find during our own searches or that we get through filmmaker submissions. We'll try to offer information on the filmmakers and their work. We'll also try to give filmmakers a place to advertise their DVDs and their studio services. Things will start slowly but we'll figure it out. If there is enough interest, DramaCast might get its own site. Stay tuned...
