He made it in 2000 for the Toronto International Film Festival.  It&#8217;s got the frenetic, montage energy of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sergei_Eisenstein\">Sergei Eisenstein<\/a> mixed with some of the fantastic elements of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Georges_M%C3%A9li%C3%A8s\">George Melies<\/a>.\u00a0 Just beautiful and wild.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Echo Park Film Center tipped me off to this amazing short film by Guy Maddin.
